Convoy of Hope Distribution Site Open to the Public in Florida
SPRINGFIELD, Miss. (PRWEB) October 12, 2018 -- Convoy of Hope is positioned and ready to serve the communities in and around Marianna, Florida. Convoy sent trucks and a disaster service team to the devastated Florida Panhandle to begin response operations following Hurricane Michael. Up to 50 additional truckloads of supplies are en route to help Convoy’s disaster response teams and provide supplies to those affected by the storm.
Hurricane Michael made landfall as the strongest storm since Hurricane Camille in 1969 and the third most powerful hurricane ever on record to hit the United States. Its path of destruction affected multiple states, including Florida, Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas. Michael struck Florida with 155 mph winds, just shy of a Category 5 storm (157 mph).
The distribution site will be set up to serve hurricane survivors with water, food, baby products, brooms, hygiene kits, flood buckets, tarps and trash cans. Convoy will also begin mobile distribution to help outlying communities who have been devastated by the storm.
“Cars and families are already lining up at our distribution site for supplies and resources. Convoy is here, and we plan to be a source of help and hope to Florida as they recover from Hurricane Michael,” says Jeff Nene, Convoy of Hope’s national spokesperson.
