SAN FRANCISCO, April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Cool Effect is excited to announce a partnership with contemporary athleisure brand BOY MEETS GIRL® for an Earth Day campaign to spread awareness and encourage action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As a non-profit working to fight climate change by giving a voice to high quality carbon-reduction projects across the globe, Cool Effect values cross-industry collaboration, and recognizes the important role of the fashion industry in our sustainable future.
BOY MEETS GIRL® has always been at the forefront of impact fashion and using its label to support global issues. Founder and Creative Director, Stacy Igel, uses her platform to collaborate with activists and organizations across the social good sector, and Cool Effect aligns with BOY MEETS GIRL®'s desire to save the planet in an actionable and approachable way.
BOY MEETS GIRL® has created a limited-edition t-shirt design inspired by Cool Effect's mission to fight climate change and cut carbon emissions. With the phrase "THOU SHALT STAY COOL" featured on the front, Cool Effect and BOY MEETS GIRL® are making a bold statement to bring an important conversation forward and encourage action leading up to and following Earth Day on April 22. The collaboration has been captured by fashion photographer Sophie Elgort and shares the stories of four New York based environmental activists who are passionate about taking action and making an impact on the planet for future generations. The stories will be featured on BOY MEETS GIRL®'s blog & social channels. The activists include Nicolette Templier, Miss New York Earth USA 2019; Reza Cristian, Founder of SUSTAIN Magazine; Alyssa Hardy, Senior Fashion Editor at COOLS; and Sarah Slutsky, Creative Director of Shiffon Co. and Stylist at The Wall Group.
With the fashion industry contributing 6.7 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, the Earth is in dire need of sustainable fashion and industry leaders who create solutions for their consumers. BOY MEETS GIRL® strives to source sustainable materials, including recycled yarn and bamboo and organic fabrics. The exclusive design BOY MEETS GIRL® created for Cool Effect uses low impact dying techniques to reduce the environmental impact of the shirt.
"We are thrilled to partner with an organization that cares about the planet just as much as we do," Stacy Igel said. "Cool Effect's dedication to carbon reduction done the right way and resilient efforts to unite individuals to fight climate change is inspiration and proof that we can come together to make a change for causes that matter."
Cool Effect's carbon reduction projects have a host of co-benefits in the communities they serve across the globe, which range from U.S. based projects like grassland protection in the Great Plains, to clean cookstove initiatives in Honduras and renewable wind turbine energy in Costa Rica. BOY MEETS GIRL® will donate 15 percent of the proceeds per t-shirt that will be evenly distributed among all of Cool Effect's projects.
"With fashion and clothing being an inevitable part of everyday life, sustainable choices can go a long way in reducing an individual's footprint," said Cool Effect CEO Marisa de Belloy. "We are thrilled to partner with a conscious brand like BOY MEETS GIRL® to bring awareness this Earth Day."
The BOY MEETS GIRL® x Cool Effect Earth Day collaboration is now available for purchase and will retail for $42 exclusively on BoyMeetsGirlUSA.com.
