Oregon expands Simplifile e-recording in Coos County

Coos County opted to institute e-recording as a way to better serve our citizens and customers.

Coos County, Ore., is now accepting electronic documents for recording through Simplifile, the nation’s largest e-recording service, providing customers with a faster, more efficient online recording method.

E-recording is the method of submitting, receiving, and processing documents such as land records for recording online, which are otherwise submitted by mail, runner, or courier service.

“Coos County opted to institute e-recording as a way to better serve our citizens and customers,” said Coos County Clerk Terri Turi. “It is proving to be an efficient way to conduct business. We are looking forward to optimizing this service throughout the coming months.”

Using Simplifile’s web-based service, customers such as title companies, banks, and legal offices can electronically prepare or scan and upload documents and send them securely through Simplifile directly to the clerk’s office.

Once the documents are received electronically at the county, they are reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned back to the submitter through Simplifile in minutes.

Recording fees and payments can also be processed securely through Simplifile, eliminating check-writing expenses and reducing payment errors.

“No matter how big or small a county is, e-recording accelerates and streamlines the overall recording process,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “We’re excited for Coos County to now have this convenient, cost-effective recording capability and look forward to continuing to provide them with the service for years to come.”

High-speed Internet access, a PC, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording with Simplifile.

Coos County is the 17th Oregon county to adopt Simplifile’s e-recording service, joining more than 1,200 recording jurisdictions nationwide that e-record with Simplifile.
