Owners of Amazon’s ground-breaking Fire phone and tablets can enhance their devices with CoPilot’s offline maps, powerful trip planning and full-featured GPS navigation

ALK, a Trimble Company and global leader in GeoLogistics® solutions and navigation software, announced today that its free CoPilot® GPS offline route planning, mapping and navigation app is now available through the Amazon Appstore for the Amazon Fire OS and other Android devices.

CoPilot GPS gives users full access to detailed offline street maps and points of interest (POIs) on their Amazon Fire or Android-based smartphone or tablet. Users can search and find millions of pre-installed POIs such as restaurants, hotels or attractions nearby or on-route. CoPilot’s street maps are stored directly on the device and allow for route calculation and directions even when there’s no mobile network or data coverage.

“We are excited to bring CoPilot to Amazon’s Appstore,” said David Quin, vice president, consumer applications, ALK. “Now owners of Amazon’s ground-breaking Fire phone and tablets can enhance their devices with CoPilot’s offline maps, powerful trip planning and full-featured GPS navigation for an experience comparable with expensive in-dash or dedicated systems.”

“ALK has delivered an innovative app that makes it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for,” said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Appstore. “We’re thrilled that CoPilot is available in the Amazon Appstore for Android devices, including Fire phone and Fire tablets.”

Users can upgrade to CoPilot’s award-winning full voice-guided, turn-by-turn GPS navigation experience through the in-app purchase. This unlocks unlimited use of full navigation features including 3D map views, speed limit warnings and realistic ClearTurn™ display with lane assist arrows at complex intersections.

Free features in CoPilot GPS include:

  • Premium quality street maps stored on your device for offline use
  • Millions of POIs built in
  • Powerful trip planning with a choice of three routes and drag-and-drop route editing
  • Unique itinerary optimizer to calculate the best route for multiple stops
  • Comprehensive integrated local search with Google, Yelp and Wikipedia
  • Additional global map regions available to purchase and store on Amazon Fire OS and other Android devices for data-free roaming abroad
