Corval Group, a St. Paul-based industrial general contractor, reports significant gains in data analysis and reductions in costs six months after implementing FieldConnect’s FieldAccess™ electronic work order and time review software to integrate with its Vista by Viewpoint Construction Software back office accounting solution.

“We were using a mobile tool that worked fine in the field, but due to its lack of integration with our back-office accounting software, we had little ability to analyze the data coming in from the field to determine metrics like profitability-per-work order,” says Business Systems Analyst, Steve Bolton. “Also, because of the custom development required to link two separate databases, our project managers and accountants were always using outdated versions of the Vista software.”

Corval chose the FieldAccess solution for its seamless integration with Vista as well as for the level of support FieldConnect offered. Once implemented, Corval was able to maintain all of its field service and accounting data in a single database and was able to immediately eliminate the cost and effort associated with syncing and maintaining separate silos of data. Management also had access to the most updated versions and features of both FieldAccess and Vista.

Corval also finds additional value with FieldAccess because it is a web-based, device-agnostic solution.

“Our previous mobile solution required a specific, dedicated device that required IT support for software problems and hardware failures," says Bolton. “Since switching to FieldConnect’s web-based solution, we have had zero instances of technicians coming to IT for these problems with their handheld devices. This keeps the technicians in the field performing more billable work, and satisfying our customers’ needs.”
