Black Stone Physical Medicine with Dr. Marc Musson, a licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist, recently opened his practice, Black Stone Physical Medicine, to serve the community of Corvallis and surrounding areas. He treats patients with a wide-range of musculoskeletal issues, including back, neck, and joint pain, tendon injuries and disorders, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Dr. Musson is able to offer some of the most innovative techniques for diagnosing and treating both chronic pain and sports injuries. His recent completion of specialty training at the University of Utah affords him an up-to-the-minute skill set in cutting-edge diagnostic techniques such as electromyogram (EMG) and nerve conduction studies, and treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, stem cell injections, and percutaneous tenotomy.

He also performs additional treatments, such as epidural injections, facet injections, radiofrequency ablation, and joint injections. Dr. Musson also has advanced ultrasound training, which he utilizes to provide accurate diagnoses and safer, more effective treatments under ultrasound guidance.

Dr. Musson's practice is grounded in a holistic view of his patients. As a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Musson takes the osteopathic view of medicine to heart. "I think it is important to treat the whole person rather than only focus on the specific pain or injury," he says.

To that end, Dr. Musson puts to use his abilities in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), which involves moving bones, muscles, and joints using techniques including stretching, gentle pressure, and resistance. He also employs therapeutic exercise as a first-line treatment for back and neck pain, and seeks to find alternatives to the use of prescription pain medication when possible.

His desire to both utilize his unique, advanced skill set while still remaining true to his holistic perspective is what inspired Dr. Musson to open his own practice in Corvallis. "By starting Black Stone Physical Medicine, I have the freedom to treat my patients as I see appropriate, rather than having the influence of hospital management determining how I treat them. Within private practice, I can provide compassionate service and demonstrate my strong interest in the well-being of my patients and their recovery."

Dr. Musson is excited to offer his services to the community of Corvallis and to be a trustworthy referral option for primary care providers, orthopedists, physical therapists, and sports medicine physicians. "What I love about practicing medicine is being able to interact with patients to help them find a solution when they and their other providers felt like they were at the end of the road in terms of options."

Black Stone Physical Medicine is located at 2358 NW Kings Blvd, Suite 100
