Academy of Hair Design, Top Cosmetology School in Springfield, MO, Launches Salon Realities Program
Springfield, MO (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- Few cosmetology schools offer students a real world experience like students at the Academy of Hair Design in Springfield, MO enjoy. From the time students begin their cosmetology school studies, they join a team that mimics real-world salon experiences. The team includes an Owner, who is actually an Academy Instructor, and a Manager who is a student elected by the students. The remaining cosmetology students on the team are staff members. Teams compete just as real world salons do for clients, revenue, client requests, and sales of retail products. The Academy of Hair Design believes that the concept of Salon Realities is a critical part of a rich educational plan.
One advantage of the Salon Realities curriculum is the exposure a student gets to instruction and the real-world experience. This program exceeds the standard education found with simple classroom prep for passing state licensure exams. In addition to the skills needed as an exceptional operator, the academy also teaches management skills so that students can advance into salon business administration if they have the desire.
The Salon Realities curriculum includes teaching key steps in opening a salon. Managers learn how to distribute work assignments, develop marketing promotions, create a team atmosphere where students support each other, and build a unique and motivating culture. All students learn people management skills and how to work as a team member. Special competitions may also occur periodically that include beauty and fashion shows. Students gain useful and transferable experiences through participation in the Salon Realities program as part of their school curriculum.
Salon Realities adds real-life competition, while students also make lifelong friendships with team members and other students in their class. With the Salon Realities program, learning is fun. The Academy of Hair Design recognizes that enjoyable learning and promotion of useful skills vs standard test-related preparation enhances the retention of knowledge and produces better prepared graduates.
