PTUJ, Slovenia, June 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Slovenian folk singer Country Steve has announced plans to complete his American tour which was abruptly halted by Covid-19 shutdowns.
The music artist said that he "cannot wait to get out there and start performing again".
He goes by the stage name of Country Steve over here in America but back in his homeland of Slovenia where he is better known, Country Steve performs with his birth name of Svit Kmet. On his first visit to these shores Steve heard all manner of pronunciations of his name; "I just found it funny," the musician revealed, "one venue manager said 'I'll just call you Country Steve if that's alright?' And I liked it, it just kinda stuck. And now when I come over here that's who I am - I'm Country Steve."
The folk artist has always had a great love for American culture and an appreciation of the American way of life. "Obviously American country music is a great influence on my musical style," says Steve, "America makes such great music with so much heart. So many of the great American singers have been inspirations to me. All the great music that comes out of Nashville, I would love to perform at the Grand Ol' Opry one day."
Country Steve has been working recently on expanding his fan base in the United States. The singer was mid-way through a tour of intimate American venues when the Covid-19 shutdown began and, unable to return back home, he has been enjoying the opportunity to get to know a bit more about American life and have some American experiences.
"The stay-at-home orders have been a bit frustrating," Country Steve explained, "I've been wanting to get out there and see more, so that's been hard. But I've seen some great things while I've been here and I love meeting all the great friendly American people. I've also been busy writing new music of course. I have used the time well."
Back home Country Steve has had a long and successful music career, he started out at an early age playing music with his family and has toured extensively both solo and with his occasional band, many of them friends who have performed alongside him for years. Country Steve is a well-respected entertainer in his native country securing himself a place on Slovenia's Eurovision judging panel.
