"Without preparation, sudden incapacitation can wreak havoc on the future of your business, along with the plans your family and employees have," says Dan Bradbary, Managing Partner, PMI Advisors.

PMI Advisors, a leading management consulting firm, announces its Business Continuity Emergency Operations Planning services for small business owners. These plans help ensure that companies actually function and survive should their owners/operators be unable to manage or communicate with their teams for 30-90 days as a result of sickness or injury.

A recent survey of closely-held businesses revealed that less than 20% of those companies have prepared detailed written instructions for such an event. These instructions should provide specific steps and identify what authority each senior team member has relative to hiring, firing, check writing, compensation adjustments and other considerations.

A Business Emergency Operations Plan, usually only 3-6 pages for a closely-held business, is a high-level document that informs key people, including family members, employees, vendors, customers, shareholders, and lenders, about who will fulfill what roles when the person currently in charge is not available.

"Without preparation, sudden incapacitation can wreak havoc on the future of your business, along with the plans your family and employees have," says Dan Bradbary, Managing Partner, PMI Advisors. "But in planning for such an event, you can position your business to survive without you until you return. Business Emergency Operations Plans are so important, but oftentimes fall to the wayside.”

The current COVID-19 coronavirus crisis has made planning even more critical for a situation where owners are incapacitated for an extended period. Business Emergency Operations Plans will provide a roadmap to help ensure that businesses survive until the owners/operators are back at the helm.
