Craig R. Smith’s New Book Presents Historical Fiction of Herod the Great
Long Beach, CA (PRWEB) December 16, 2013 -- Craig R. Smith presents a reconstructed historical novel of Herod the Great, after he is consigned to hell, in, “Herod from Hell: Confessions and Reminiscences” (published by AuthorHouse).
“In doing research on the life of Jesus,” Smith says, “I discovered that a great deal about Herod the Great was incorrect. For example, though he became king of the Jews, he was an Arab.” Smith brings these and other truths to light in a way that makes it seem as though Herod is telling his own story.
“Herod from Hell” is told by Herod the Great, who wants to set the record straight concerning his dynasty, Jesus’ trial and other historical events. “In completing his task, Herod discusses events with Caesar Augustus, Antony, Cleopatra, Pontius Pilot, his son Herod Agrippa and his sister Solome,” Smith writes. Herod and the other characters speak for themselves in first-person style, in settings and interactions in hell.

“I had to defend myself for a third time in Tyre … Before we were half through their testimony, Antony broke in and told them he did not believe them. They left in anger. In private Antony asked me, ‘What have you done to so piss off these damn priests?’
‘I am not a Jew,’ I told him.
‘Well, do something about it. You are distracting me from the love of my life.’”
“The book covers a large swath of history, from the rise of Pompey the Great in 70 B.C. to the death of the beloved apostle in 100 A.D.,” says Smith. “It is very informative about Herod’s interaction with the Caesars of Rome and the trial of Jesus. The book also provides readers with an understanding of the Book of Revelation, one of the most difficult in the Bible.”
