Liebherr to Supply LTM 1220-5.2 for Crane Operator Skills Championship
(PRWEB) November 04, 2013 -- Competitors in the Crane & Rigging Hot Line & CIC Crane Operator Skills Championship next March in Las Vegas, Nev., will be operating in comfort and style. Liebherr, the official crane sponsor of the National Skills Championship, is providing a LTM 1220-5.2 mobile crane for the event, which will take place at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2014. The crane has been purchased by Hatton’s Crane & Rigging Inc. in Hayward, Calif., and will be delivered after the show.
The 265-U.S. ton LTM 1220-5.2 is engineered for maximum lifting performance. The five-axle mobile crane’s 132,000-lb. weight optimizes load capacities. With a 197-ft. telescopic main boom and a 40- to 72-ft. long folding fly-jib system, the LTM 1220-5.2 sets the standard when it comes to lifting height and boom length.
Liebherr mobile crane booms feature the oviform boom profile, which provides stability against deflection and torsion and optimal lifting capacities in steep boom positions and at large radii. The interlocking system of the telescoping ram with a boom section is performed by spring-loaded pins and followed by the mechanical release of the same section of the boom. Additionally, the Telematik automatic telescoping system controls the various telescoping lengths of the boom. Boom configurations can be pre-selected, depending on the job requirements.
For the operator’s comfort, the crane cab is made of corrosion-resistant steel with sound and heat-absorbing internal paneling, tinted windows, front knock-out windows, and a space-saving sliding door. The cab tilts to the rear by 20° to improve operator visibility. The spring-mounted, hydraulically cushioned crane operator’s seat provides pneumatic lumbar support and a headrest. The cab also has operator-friendly armrest-integrated controls that are vertically and horizontally adjustable. All essential operating data is located on the LICCON computer system monitor.
