Community West Credit Union, headquartered in Kentwood, will be the title sponsor of the 6th annual Michigan Adventure Race: Art Prize Edition, which will be held October 8 throughout various locations in Grand Rapids.
Described as a "part bike race, part running race, and part Amazing Race," the Michigan Adventure Race: Art Prize Edition is a sporting event that is incorporated into Grand Rapids' international art festival, Art Prize. In this race, participants will engage in different challenges situated across various spots throughout the art competition.
"We're glad to be part of this invigorating event and we hope to see many people come and get involved," stated Community West Credit Union Marketing Director Lisa Boyd. "This is something that can appeal to a diverse group of people as it blends sports, physical activity, and the arts. Adventure Race is a great way to get outside, meet people, and discover new art and venues."
The competition starts at Ah-Nab-Awen Park and will have teams run and bike to numerous checkpoints to complete physical and mental challenges at exhibits throughout ArtPrize. There will also be popular spots throughout downtown Grand Rapids in a four hour period.
The fundraising program, Purple Community, will be this year's charity partner. They will be donating all funds raised from the event towards the Van Andel Institute in support of cancer and neurodegenerative disease research.
Additional sponsors include Gazelle Sports, Founders Brewing, Inc., Bill and Paul Sporthaus, Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial, Peppino's Sports Grille, West Michigan Bike and Fitness, Eco-Trek Bars, Zanfel, and Jamie Geysbeek Photograph.
