Crime Solving Pathologist Finds Dead Body in Haunted House in “A Deadly Homecoming: A Toni Day Mystery”
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (PRWEB) March 25, 2019 -- Author and career pathologist Jane Bennett Munro has released six novels in “A Toni Day Mystery” series with “A Deadly Homecoming” being the sixth installment.
The story follows Dr. Toni Day when her mother calls and asks her to investigate the disappearance of her best friend's husband, Dick, she knows better than to argue. Soon, Toni and her husband, Hal, are on their way back to their hometown of Long Beach, California, where another mystery awaits.
Dick's wife, Doris, is convinced that the historic house she shares with Dick is haunted. To make things even more complicated, Doris is also suffering from a mysterious illness. When Doris takes a turn for the worse, Dr. Day investigates. After she unearths evidence suggesting that Dick may not be who he seems, as well as a malfunctioning dumbwaiter, a laird’s lug, a secret staircase, and a half-empty bottle of white arsenic, she also finds Dick’s body. As a whirlwind investigation ensues that exposes a decades-old scheme and serial murders, Toni herself nearly becomes the final victim.
“With its modern pathology science and its gothic setting, the book makes for a classic haunted-house story with a satisfyingly credible forensic mystery at the heart of it. As with Toni’s past adventures, Munro offers a wonderful bit of escapism,” -Kirkus Reviews.
Bennett Munro, who herself has over four decades in pathology experience, incorporates her own medical and forensic knowledge into her grisly descriptions of her book’s victims, offering readers a realistic and gritty story that will leave them riveted.
