Simon Fraser University Student Gains Needed Internship Credits through CrossContinental.org
Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- A Rich Media student from Simon Fraser University successfully completed his required internship credits for his digital communications program through CrossContinental.org.
SFU's digital communications program gives students the skills and knowledge they need to meet the high demand for trained experts in the field of online marketing. A key component of the program is a 3-week full time internship. Students are required to put their classroom education into action during a full-time practicum to get on-the-job experience, develop industry connections, and become more competitive in the job market.
When SFU student Nick Horng completed his classroom lessons in digital communications, he applied to several organizations in search of internship positions. In the end, he chose to intern at Cross-Continental Solutions because of their flexible schedule and interesting international projects. The team at CrossContinental.org promotes cross-cultural understanding through international learning programs such as international internships and volunteer abroad projects. These programs help local communities while at the same time providing an eye-opening cultural learning experience.
Nick worked together with the Cross-Continental team on video shooting and editing in order to produce a trailer for their YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/ccsorg). For this project, past volunteers and interns in the area were invited to share their experiences in a video trailer (http://youtu.be/4YgkrLF3FZE). This project brought lots of joy to everyone on the team and was a rewarding opportunity for Nick.
After the project was finished, Nick’s mentor at CrossContinental.org evaluated Nick’s performance throughout the video production and reported back to Simon Fraser University in order to validate the internship credit. Also, Nick was granted a recommendation letter to help with future employment opportunities or graduate school applications. Nick exclaims, "Thank you for the recommendation. It was a pleasure to work with you on this project!"
