Processing Capacity Grows for Central Illinois Metallurgy Firm

Manufacturers and industrial operations in Illinois seek increased life for metal components through cryogenic tempering, an extension of the heat treatment process for wearable components that results in 300% longer life for 20% cost of the item. 300 Below, Inc. is the pioneer in this industry and has grown its processing capacity by 200,000 pounds per month for cryogenic processing services, following a typical processing capacity of one million pounds per year.

New Big Blue Cryogenic Processor

New Big Blue Cryogenic Processor

Decatur, IL (PRWEB) June 01, 2014

Cryogenic tempering has become more popular as manufacturing margins shrink and organizations require new cost saving structures. With demand increasing over 1 million+ pounds of metals treated annually, 300 Below, Inc. has added a new processing unit to increase operational capacity to an additional 200,000 pounds per month by adding a new high-capacity freezing unit, code named "Big Blue" for its unique size.

300 Below, Inc. / Cryo-Tech has engineered innovative equipment since 1966 for its American-made industrial cryogenic processing equipment, which supports a two-part metal enhancement treatment service known as cryogenic tempering.

The new cryogenic processor (cryogenic freezer unit) is a new front loading design that is able to accept forklift loads, set them on internal pallets for processing, and process the loads. A new oxygen monitoring system and differential pressure venting ensures the highest level of safety during operation. A new processing system has been designed to accommodate the platinum RTDs and additional thermocouples places inside the unit to ensure temperatures descend and ascent in close proximity to the designated processing profile.

The new "Big Blue" cryogenic processor is intended for heavy industry applications as well as the ongoing increases to volumes of TruBlue cryogenically treated brake rotors that 300 Below is processing for its distributor network in the United States. To date, no similar unit has been effectively fielded, given the large disparity in thermal change that typically affects the integrity of insulation on similar units not designed by 300 Below, which may only descend to a minimum temperature of -80˚C before damage occurs.

300 Below is accepting new clients for placement into Big Blue, who wish to ensure higher volume (high capacity) treatments are handled effectively and efficiently.

About 300 Below, Inc.

300 Below provides metallurgical engineering services as the world's largest and oldest commercial cryogenic processing company, in business since 1966. Through a liquid nitrogen based process, molecular structures of steel components are rearranged to last 200-300% longer for around 20% cost of the component. 300 Below's cryogenic tempering process acts an extension of the heat treatment process used in manufacturing defense and aerospace components, high-performance motorsports applications, 262,000+ gun barrels, sporting goods, musical instruments. 300 Below has started 156 operations in 36 countries around the world with its technology. Customers include NASA, as well as all branches of the U.S. Military and their contractors.
