Educator at Atlanta Aspergers School Cumberland Academy of Georgia Recognized as SMART amp™ Champ for Use of Technology in the Classroom
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) April 30, 2015 -- Elementary school coordinator and fourth and fifth grade teacher Staci K. Gelbaum of Cumberland Academy of Georgia, private school for Aspergers in Atlanta, has been incorporating SMART amp™ technology in the classroom for over three months. Recently, Gelbaum was recognized as a SMART Exemplary Educator and SMART amp™ Champ, a prestigious title awarded to only eleven educators in the country. This innovative technology is a cloud-based platform that allows students to collaborate on projects, encouraging teamwork while allowing teachers to monitor student activity and gain insight into student learning. Utilizing laptops and tablets, the SMART amp™ program provides children with new ways to participate individually and collaboratively, whether in the classroom or remotely, making learning more interactive, engaging and entertaining.
As a SMART amp Champ™, Gelbaum was invited to attend a two-day on-boarding session at SMART’s United States headquarters in Seattle, Washington. The conference aimed to strengthen understanding of the SMART amp™ program through peer-led discussions and sharing of best practices. Gelbaum is now qualified to help other educators use the SMART amp™ Champ technology to create collaborative classrooms with their students.
“The SMART amp™ technology has been an exciting addition to my classroom,” said Gelbaum. “The students love being able to use electronic devices to work together on projects, and it allows me to observe them and gain valuable insight to how they are learning and performing.”
