“Dedicated advocates such as members of the Melanoma Action Coalition and the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation provide the heart, soul and support needed to battle cancer.” - Mike Hennessy Jr., president of MJH.

CURE® Media Group, the nation’s leading digital and print media enterprise focused on cancer patients, today announced a new collaboration with the Melanoma Action Coalition and the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation to encourage prevention and early detection of these aggressive cancers.

“Dedicated advocates such as members of the Melanoma Action Coalition and the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation provide the heart, soul and support needed to battle cancer,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president of the Plainsboro, N.J.-based Michael J. Hennessy Associates, Inc. (MJH).

“CURE®’s Advocacy Spotlight Partnership program now will engage more patients, caregivers and families and provide easier access to cutting-edge medical information they so desperately need,” said Hennessy.

Melanoma, a dangerous form of skin cancer that can spread to other organs and kill if not detected and treated early, is the most common form of cancer among people aged 25 to 29. Incidence of melanoma in the U.S. has tripled over the past 35 years, with a rate of one person dying of melanoma every hour.

The Melanoma Action Coalition, established in 2014, is a nationwide association of foundations dedicated to increasing awareness about melanoma, sharing information about sun safety and raising needed funding for melanoma research. The coalition encourages collaboration and support, promotes skin cancer prevention efforts and works with clinicians and researchers seeking a cure for melanoma.

The Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation, a national non-profit organization, was founded in 2007 by a mother whose son was diagnosed, at age 13, with an aggressive form of the disease. Frustrated by a lack of information and support, Kim Jones created the foundation now focused on saving lives by raising awareness, encouraging early detection and offering resources to patients, families and the medical community.

Testicular cancer is the most prevalent cancer in men aged 15 to 35, yet it seldom is discussed. Detected early, it has a survival rate exceeding 95%. “We encourage monthly testicular self-exams for men, knowing this is the most effective method of early detection,” said Kim Jones, founder and CEO of the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation.

“These new partnerships will bolster our Advocacy Spotlight Partnership program,” Hennessy said. “We are dedicated to helping all patients, families and physicians find the resources and support they need. Partnering with such determined champions as the Melanoma Action Coalition and the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation means more people will become aware of the threats, diagnosed earlier and treated more effectively.”
