Lifestyle Apparel Line For Cancer Patients Launches Promotion in Memory of Company Founder
NEW YORK, NEW YORK (PRWEB) May 11, 2015 -- In honor and memory of the company's founder, Alex Niles, CureWear announced an 18 day promotion offering $18 off every item available for purchase on MyCureWear.com. Alex Niles founded CureWear during his own journey with Stage IV Gastric Cancer and while he continually defied the doctors’ expectations given his diagnosis, he passed away on April 8th at the age of 32. He was passionate about making the patient experience more comfortable and finding a way for everyone supporting a cancer patient to feel more inspired.
As Alex’s lucky number was 18, CureWear will offer both patient and supporter shirts at a “lucky” price for 18 days, starting on May 11 through May 28. During this time patient and supporter shirts will be available for $37 (plus shipping and handling). Throughout the promotion, CureWear will continue its giveback program: for every two supporter shirts purchased, CureWear will donate one patient shirt. The company has already donated shirts to two of New York’s largest cancer centers, and to countless individual patients.
- CureWear Patient and Supporter Shirts now $37 (plus shipping and handling) at MyCureWear.com during promotional period using the code CUREWEAR18
- Continued Giveback Program of donating 1 patient shirt for every 2 supporter shirts purchased
- Promotion runs from May 11th through May 28th
CureWear apparel is designed to make life more comfortable for cancer patients being treated via a medical port, allowing them to keep their clothes on during treatment. The patient shirt features a velcro “port accessibility patch” that easily allows nurses the space they need to deliver intravenous treatments via a patient’s medical port. When closed, the port accessibility patch also allows room for medical lines. The CureWear Giveback Program gives 1 patient shirt for every 2 supporter shirts purchased. The company has already donated shirts to two of New York’s largest cancer centers, and to dozens of individual patients.
CureWear launched in August of 2014 with a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising more than $50,000. The campaign grabbed the attention of major media outlets including NBC News and The Huffington Post. The company’s MyCureWear.com went live shortly thereafter, and has expanded to include children’s sizes for both pediatric patients with right-side clavicle ports and kid supporters. In April 2015, CureWear was selected as one of ten finalists in a Shark Tank-style "Future of Wellness Competition" sponsored by Well+Good and FounderMade.
ABOUT CUREWEAR:
CureWear was created by Alex Niles, who was diagnosed with Stage IV Gastric Cancer at the age of 30 in the fall of 2013. As part of his treatment, a medical port was surgically implanted into Alex’s chest. To give nurses access to his medical port, Alex would remove his shirt just before receiving treatment. Alex decided to cut a small hole in an athletic shirt, and create a patch that would allow nurses access to his port, while not requiring him to remove his shirt for treatment. From there, CureWear was born.

ABOUT ALEX NILES:
Alex Niles was the creator and founder of CureWear. An entrepreneur with a background in investment banking, Alex was inspired to create CureWear after his own Stage IV Gastric Cancer diagnosis in the fall of 2013 at the age of 30. As part of his treatment, a medical port was surgically implanted into Alex's chest to administer chemotherapy drugs. Rather than remove his shirt for treatment, Alex cut a small hole into one of his favorite athletic shirts to give nurses access to his port. From there, the idea for CureWear was born. While battling cancer and receiving more than 20 chemotherapy infusions over the course of almost 19 months, Alex created and founded CureWear.
Alex was a graduate of Drexel University, where he was a 4-year Division 1 scholarship athlete on the men's soccer team, and earned a graduate degree from Fordham University. He was recently listed among Drexel's "40 Under 40." Alex wrote about his Cancer experience on his blog, SmilesForNiles.com, and was a regular contributor to The New York Times, Huffington Post, Positively Positive, and Psychology Today.
