CUPERTINO, Calif., Sept. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Curriki, the CODiE-award winning provider of free online educational resources, today announced that it is excited to be adding hands-on business curriculum from Youth Entrepreneurs® (YE) to its high-quality OER Library.
Youth Entrepreneurs is a one-of-a-kind business class that transforms students' mindsets through hands-on, experiential education so that they can realize their full potential. YE provides educators with training, resources and freedom to customize lessons and activities to create a tailored curriculum that benefits their students most. The YE educational model lifts the veil between textbook learning and real-world application, allowing educators to help students to see the impact of their decisions, seize opportunities and take ownership of their lives.
"We're very excited that YE is offering its program through Curriki to help educators unlock the innate abilities and passions of their students so they can be successful beyond the classroom and into their lives," said Kim Jones, President and CEO of Curriki, in announcing the new partnership. "The support it offers to educators is unparalleled." The Youth Entrepreneurs curriculum is free to educators and allows for customization of lessons and activities depending on classroom needs.
A element of the curriculum that educators can implement is a chance for students to create an actual pop-up business, where they apply classroom learning to a real-world scenario. It encourages them to take calculated risks in a low-risk environment, experience successes and learn from their failures.
"Our primary focus is to provide the best possible resources and flexibility to educators who know their students best," said Kylie Stupka, President of Youth Entrepreneurs. "Through that support to educators, it is our goal to set students up to be successful, not just in the classroom, but in life. YE alumni have access to continued learning, mentorship, networking and other opportunities through YE Academy."
The success of the traditional online curriculum used by educators is impressive. Ninety-nine percent of Youth Entrepreneurs students graduate from high school (compared to the national average of 83%), and 61% earn a bachelor's degree or higher (compared to the 40% national average.) Almost one-third of YE alumni have started a business (compared to 12% national average).
YE students leave the classroom equipped with an entrepreneurial mindset that is applicable to all facets of life, including critical thinking and problem-solving skills, self-awareness and a principled mindset that make them valuable employees and contributing members of their communities.
