CULVER CITY, Calif., Oct. 25, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Servicon, a leading custodial and infection-prevention services provider, announced today that its president and CEO Laurie Sewell has been named to the American Heart Association (AHA) Greater Los Angeles Executive Leadership Council. Sewell will be a major part of the organization's effort to "Go Red for Women."
A signature initiative for AHA, Go Red for Women, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women's heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally.
"It's no longer just about wearing red and sharing heart health facts," said Laura Nichols, vice president of social market at the American Heart Association. "It's about all women making a commitment to stand together with Go Red and taking charge of their own heart health, as well as the health of those they love."
AHA also reminds those involved that making a commitment to your health isn't something you have to do alone either. They encourage participants to grab a friend or a family member and make a Go Red Healthy Behavior Commitment.
"There is so much misinformation and fear out there surrounding heart ailments in women," Sewell said. "Having had a recent heart issue myself, I know that most women have different symptoms and challenges than men. I want to help an organization as necessary and wonderful as the American Heart Association support and educate women facing heart problems."
"The American Heart Association is so grateful for volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and talent to support our mission," Nichols said. "Laurie is the perfect example of a local leader whose passion, dedication and robust network of connections create transformational growth and impact. We couldn't be more honored for the opportunity to work alongside her and welcome her to the AHA family."
