Local Sheet Metal Fabrication Company Says U.S. Manufacturing is Coming Back
Woodinville, WA (PRWEB) September 19, 2013 -- Local manufacturing has contributed enormously to the U.S. economic recovery. This week, Cutting Edge Laser Inc. (CEL) posted an article examining a study that shows the significant growth of the U.S. manufacturing industry. The study comes from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and is titled “The U.S. as One of the Developed World’s Lowest-Cost Manufacturers.”
CEL’s main points in the article are that the U.S. is becoming a world leader in manufacturing once again, gaining a cost advantage, and capturing key markets. Each point is filled with statistics and data supporting these points. The study projects that the U.S. will gain 2.5 to 5 million additional manufacturing jobs, increasing production by $3-9 billion nationwide. Many jobs are already coming back into the U.S., as over 200 companies have “reshored” their manufacturing.
The cost advantage is significant, according to the blog post, because Europe and China are quickly losing their lower prices. It is estimated that manufacturing in the U.S. will be cheaper than the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, and Japan by 2015. Cutting Edge Laser argues that this will incentivize companies like Ford, Toyota, Lenovo, and Airbus to bring manufacturing to the U.S. again. According to the blog article, these companies have already begun this process.
The markets that the U.S. is recapturing are significant, as well. Transportation will grow the most as far as jobs and production are concerned. Petroleum and coal products is projected to grow by the second most, followed by chemical products in third and computer equipment taking the fourth position. To read the full article, click here.
