Danny Seraphine, Original Chicago Drummer and Co-Founder’s Performance at Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony with the Band to Premiere April 30th on HBO
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 29, 2016 -- Danny Seraphine, co-founder of the iconic band Chicago, performed with the group for the first time in 25 years, as the band was inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (https://rockhall.com/inductees/), with the show broadcast premiering April 30th on HBO .
Seraphine, ranked by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the greatest rock drummers of all time, was singled out in the magazine’s review (http://www.rollingstone.com/music/pictures/15-best-moments-at-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-2016-induction-20160409/chicagos-former-drummer-grabs-the-spotlight-20160409) of the Annual Ceremony, “In his induction speech, Rob Thomas did everything possible to assure the crowd that Chicago were much cooler than most people thought.” Thomas stated in his speech, “If you think Chicago is your mom's band, then I want to party with your mom!”
Rolling Stone’s review continued, “But it wasn't until former Chicago drummer Danny Seraphine stepped up to the microphone that his point was proven”… "We lived together, as most bands do, we cried together, we fought together, we f***** together," he said. "'Please wrap it up?' Screw you. I've waited 25 f****** years for this!" By the end even his bandmates were urging him to stop talking, but the crowd loved it, as did Kid Rock. "The drummer for Chicago turns out to be a f****** badass!" he said before inducting Cheap Trick.”
Seraphine expressed his pride and excitement over the momentous occasion, accolade, and the opportunity to perform with the band once again. "It was an honor to be recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and I enjoyed reuniting with my former bandmates,” said Seraphine. He added, “It was time to come together and put our differences aside for the fans and to celebrate our musical legacy. This is a moment in time I will never forget.”
The rock and roll pioneer also acknowledged the devoted fans that have supported the band through the years. “We owe it all to our loyal fans who deserve as much credit for this achievement as we do. From the early years through their record breaking 37 million votes in support of our induction, they have carried us for almost 50 years. It has been a blessing to share the stage for decades and tour with some amazing artists including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Santana, The Beach Boys and many others." Indeed, Chicago’s colorful history seems to be one that some musicians can only aspire towards, and their varied and notable musical achievements have brought them to this point in their career.
Seraphine played with Chicago from 1967 - 1991. Since leaving the band he has produced independent films and Broadway plays, and continues to tour around the world. Chicago has sold over 122 million albums worldwide, and earned 22 gold, 18 platinum and 8 multi-platinum albums in the United States.
