Carving out time, even just a single day, to tackle a few seasonal chores will pay big dividends toward worry-free relaxation and entertaining all summer long.
Mobile, AL (PRWEB) April 25, 2017
The popular father-daughter team from Today’s Homeowner TV, Danny Lipford and Chelsea Lipford Wolf, hosted a national satellite media event today offering homeowners advice to tame their outdoor spaces and prepare for summertime fun in the sun. The duo broadcast live from a residence in Mobile, AL, to kick off the “Simple Steps to Summer Prep” event, connecting with more than 22 million viewers.
Danny and Chelsea spoke with 20 TV and radio hosts across the country sharing the secret every homeowner wants to know – how to spend less time working outdoors, and more time relaxing during the lazy, hazy days ahead. “No one wants to head outside for the first cookout of the season and sit on dirty furniture, fight off mosquitoes or trod through a weed-filled lawn,” Danny says. “Carving out time, even just a single day, to tackle a few seasonal chores, will pay big dividends toward worry-free relaxation and entertaining all summer long.”
Danny advises to start with a clean slate. Giving the deck or patio a good scrubbing or power washing will provide the perfect backdrop for summer entertaining. He also recommends getting the grill in shape by using a degreaser and wire brush on the grates to remove any debris. For homeowners with gas grills, Danny offers an easy hack to check the fuel level. Pour a pitcher of hot water over the propane tank and then run your hand along the tank’s side until you hit a cool spot. The cool area indicates where propane is present in the tank.
Chelsea joined her dad to introduce viewers to an innovative way to protect outdoor living spaces from pesky mosquitoes. As an alternative to applying repellant every time you venture outdoors, Chelsea showed off the Haven™ Backyard Lighting & Mosquito Repellent System from NuTone. Haven offers mosquito repellant fixtures combined with attractive landscape lighting that provide season-long protection. Each fixture provides 110 square feet of coverage and is safe to use in any outdoor environment. Chelsea demonstrated how easy it is for the do-it-yourselfer to install and maintain Haven fixtures, incorporating them into any outdoor area to maximize summer fun and entertaining.
Weeds are also a breeding ground for outdoor pests. Chelsea offered tips for maintaining a lush and well-manicured lawn throughout the summer. She recommends mowing about once a week, but not too closely. Mowing too short actually harms grass by restricting leaf development, resulting in weak, thin lawns. But no one wants to spend all their time on yard work, so Chelsea introduced the new TimeMaster lawn mower from Toro. The TimeMaster offers a 30-inch deck and double blade system helping homeowners mow up to 40 percent faster while the Personal Pace self-propel adjusts to the individual mower.
Even though homeowners love to be outdoors in summertime, the weather doesn’t always cooperate. Summer blackouts and storms are common throughout the U.S. and some can get pretty severe, so Danny advised viewers how to get their homes ready. Ensuring the roof is in good shape and gutters are clear top his recommendations for preventing water damage to the home. In addition, Danny says it’s important to trim low-hanging limbs and secure outdoor furniture, trash cans and any other items that could be problematic in strong winds.
Finally, Danny suggested homeowners consider installing a standby home generator to maintain seamless home systems and peace of mind in the event of a power outage. He showcased a model from Champion Power Equipment which provides quiet, streamlined protection and can be installed in both new and existing homes. Since power outages can cost homeowners big money and inconvenience, a standby generator can be a great option to offer savings and security.
The media event was sponsored by NuTone, Champion Power Equipment and Toro. A broadcast-ready clip with Danny and Chelsea’s advice is available to the media.
