Dataium ASI: Construction Demand Drives Online Interest in Trucks
Nashville,TN (PRWEB) January 14, 2014 -- Dataium, the largest aggregator of in-market automotive shopper behavior, today released its monthly Automotive Shopper Intensity (ASI™) report. The Dataium ASI index increased 2.45% from the previous month.
Online shopping activity increased across the automotive market in December. Shopper interest increased 11.6% in compacts, 11.7% in midsized cars, 10.6% in large cars, 15.6% in midsized sporty cars and 15.2% in midsized CUVs from the previous month.
Despite the most recent jobs report showing fewer jobs added than were anticipated, housing and construction was one of the few industries that showed significant growth. Dataium's New Vehicle ASI Ranking reflected a large increase in online auto shopping activity towards full-sized trucks capable of meeting the needs of construction workers. The RAM 2500 and 1500 took the top two positions on the New Vehicle ASI Ranking, followed by the full-sized Ford F-250 pickup and Ford Expedition EL. These vehicles showed the greatest increase in online auto shopping activity from the previous month.
