ATLANTA and DALLAS, Feb. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "What does it profit a man if he gains the world but loses his soul?" This sums up the narrative of David's upcoming book that unravels a story of finding and understanding what is truly valuable for one person when in the middle of chaos and war. In Decision at Fletcher's Mill, author David Caringer talks of the undying hope and love in the hearts of people who have God in their life, and the contrast of inner darkness for those who don't.
Decision at Fletcher's Mill is set in the backdrop of the American Revolution raging in South Carolina in 1781. During this time, the British troops are opening a second major front in the south to break the stalemate in the north. This struggle for dominance also reopens old vendettas between loyalists and rebel militia that created a toxic cycle of brutal violence and revenge.
The story revolves around two men who are total opposites—from their age to their social status—who will meet to bring change in each other's lives. Private Billy Morgan, a twenty-year-old rifleman, grew up in poverty. He was handpicked as a militia rifleman at a young age in North Carolina on the way to South. The story of this young man begins as he starts his journey with a lie that makes him the butt of jokes among his comrades. Despite the shame of how he started his journey, he is bound to overcome mountains of challenges and moral failure to become a true hero of his own.
The other man—Ira Fletcher—is old. He is the wealthiest man in the county and the owner of Fletcher's Mill. Though it seems Ira has always gotten everything he needs, there is more to the story. Despite growing up with a loving father, meeting a lovely wife, and having a good son, Ira was thrown big hurdles and challenges that cost him more than just money. During his dark times, he succumbs to violence for he believes it is rightful vengeance. Over time, he will learn and decide what is truly valuable in his life.
"Yes, the mill and the other buildings are gone, but they can be rebuilt. The people, the family, young man. They are the real treasure. Our love for God and each other as creatures made in His image. This is what really matters," is a telling line from David's work that shows there is hope and valuable lessons to be learned during the toughest times.
Struggles and chaos are not unknown to author David Caringer. He was a former army infantry paratrooper and officer, police officer, and private investigator. He lives in Nixa, Missouri, with his wife, Patti, and serves as a company chaplain for a private corporation. David is also the author of Letter to Troy which is based on a true story and his personal testimony about coming to manhood and finding redemption through Jesus Christ.
Decision at Fletcher's Mill is to be published by Elm Hill, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing. The book is going to be available on ebook, hardbound and paperback versions.
