DENVER, Oct. 31, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- DAWG Nation Hockey Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, has announced today a partnership with the City of Castle Pines, Colorado to build a world-class ice rink facility that will cater to both able-bodied and disabled athletes alike.
The planned three-sheet ice complex is designed to fully accommodate both disabled hockey and ice hockey and will connect the surrounding communities with youth and adult programs, as well as anchoring several nearby high school programs. The rink will also serve as the home to Colorado Sled Hockey Clubs with the capability of hosting both national and international sled hockey events.
"We couldn't be more pleased to partner on this community project with DAWG Nation," said The City of Castle Pines Mayor, Tera Radloff. "The unique nature of this one-of-a-kind ice rink facility will bring interest from both able-bodied and disabled athletes, nationwide. We couldn't be prouder as a community, to have role in its development, and to have it right here, in Castle Pines."
DAWG Nation began in 2011 as a small group honoring a fallen teammate. It has since grown into an influential organization which makes meaningful contributions, positively impacting the entire hockey community. DAWG Nation hosts a number of annual events to support opportunities for players and their families in times of need.
"This facility is designed to set a new bar," said Martin Richardson, President & CEO of DAWG Nation. "It will be a place where everyone can learn, improve, and compete, building confidence both on and off the ice." Martin continued, "Hockey is such a great sport, but the community surrounding it is even better. The support and outreach we have received since we started has been amazing, and I am very excited to see this longtime dream become a reality."
The DAWG Nation rink groundbreaking is slated for October 1st, 2020. To learn more about the Rink Project please visit: rink.dawgnation.org
