Coldwell Banker Agent Debbie Hymen Illustrates Illinois’ Hot Housing Market
Highland Park, IL (PRWEB) November 24, 2015 -- “It is definitely the ideal time to sell, as the stellar housing market momentum in Illinois carried into fall with home sales and median prices experiencing significant year-over-year gains, according to the Illinois Association of Realtors,” said Debbie. “The Chicago real estate market alone experienced a nine-year record high earlier this year.”
According to the Illinois Association of Realtors article, statewide home sales (including single-family homes and condominiums) in September 2015 totaled 13,794 homes sold, up 5.6 percent from September 2014 when 13,058 homes sold. Additionally, the statewide median price in September 2015 rose to $172,000, a 6.2-percent gain over September 2014’s statewide median price of $162,000.
“Come fall, the real estate market usually experiences a seasonal slowdown, but that is not happening this year,” said Debbie, a five-time Five Star Real Estate Agent’s Professional Award recipient. “In fact, September saw the best sales numbers in a decade.”
The Illinois Association of Realtors article further reports that the time it took to sell a home in September averaged 64 days statewide, down from 69 days a year ago. However, the available housing inventory remained tight with 70,547 homes for sale, which is a 10-percent decline from September 2014 when there were 78,373 homes on the market.
