MIAMI, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Successful actor Laurence Fishburne is set to host a new "Information Matrix" episode about dental implants. The show will cover different options for dental implants and how patients can benefit from them, along with the technologies that have made them a viable options for patients.
Dental implants have changed the face of dentistry over the last few years. The implants are frames that are positioned into the jawbone with surgery, in order for a dentist to mount replacement teeth. The implants are commonly made of titanium or titanium alloys, to help make sure it is not rejected by the body and because it's a strong and lightweight material. The implants are important because any bridges or dentures that are mounted won't shift or slip in the mouth, which is useful for speaking and eating and helps provide a more comfortable feel. Ordinary dentures and bridges may not be comfortable for patients or even made worse by possible sore spots or gagging that can take place. Ordinary bridges also need to be attached to teeth on either side of the missing tooth, which may not be possible. With implants, no adjacent teeth need to be prepared.
The American Dental Association recommends two different implants, depending on the person's needs. Endosteal implants are applied into the jawbone and then, once that has healed, an additional surgery is used to connect to the original implant. With a subperiosteal implant, a metal frame is fitted into the jawbone and then, once the jawbone has healed, the frame becomes fixed to the bone. These advances and others will be discussed with leading dentists and implant specialists.
"Information Matrix" is an educational show that covers a wide range of topics that interest the public. In addition to its host, it is anchored by an award-winning team.
