The Nickel Restaurant, Denver’s Most Anticipated New Restaurant, Announces Chris Thompson as Executive Chef
Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 11, 2014 -- The Nickel is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Thompson as its Executive Chef. Thompson joins The Nickel Restaurant from San Francisco’s award-winning A16 restaurant. As executive chef Thompson will lead the restaurant’s innovative menu of thoughtful Colorado-inspired fare. Chef Thompson’s talent and creativity are the perfect fit for The Nickel’s new chef-driven culinary concept. The Nickel - a Denver Restaurant, is slated to debut in July 2014, located at downtown Denver’s iconic Hotel Teatro.
Chef Thompson joins The Nickel after most recently serving as Executive Chef and salumaio at San Francisco’s celebrated A16 restaurant where he lead the culinary team and kitchen that has become world renowned for its extensive butchery and charcuterie program. Prior to A16, Thompson spent 3 years at the Michelin starred restaurant, Spruce, focusing on locally farmed ingredients. Before his West Coast venture, Thompson began his culinary career in Telluride at several of Colorado’s Alchemy Concept restaurants. His first foray into fine dining was at Telluride’s Rustico Ristorante where he further honed his culinary skills and mastered the craft of making charcuterie. Thompson’s evolved expertise then landed him the position of chef de cuisine at Excelsior Café where he became known for crafting creative, seasonal menus.
“We’re excited to have Chris lead the team at The Nickel,” explained Jake Linzinmeir with Blau + Associates, the team responsible for bringing The Nickel Restaurant concept to life. “His work at A16 has been inspiring and his many talents will be a great addition to Denver’s growing and diverse culinary scene,” he continued.
Inspired by its Rocky Mountain heritage, The Nickel’s menu will feature inventive cuisine that showcases locally-sourced ingredients from the surrounding region’s farms, markets and ranches. With fresh, seasonal elements as a focal point, a creative combination of flavors and textures will be paired to craft signature dishes such as Bone Marrow Brulee with Spring Ramp Jam; Wood Roasted Lamb Rack with Lavender Honey and Grilled Trout with Pistachio Gremolata.
Designed to complement the food, a curated barrel-aged spirits program featuring signature cocktails along with local craft beers and an extensive wine list will complete The Nickel Restaurant experience.
“I’ve always found Colorado inspiring, both as a place to call home as well as a culinary destination,” said Chef Thompson. “I’m excited to be a part of the exciting culinary scene in Denver.”
