DePuy ASR Lawsuits Progressing, Notes Rottenstein Law Group LLP
(PRWEB) July 09, 2013 -- DePuy ASR lawsuits are progressing in New Jersey state courts. The Rottenstein Law Group LLP reports that on July 12 there is a case management conference scheduled, according to court documents. The firm, which represents clients in lawsuits against DePuy Orthopaedics because of the alleged severe health problems caused by the metal-on-metal hip implant, explains what this milestone means for DePuy ASR lawsuits.
There are about 640 lawsuits consolidated into the multicounty litigation in Bergen County, according to court documents in In Re DePuy ASR Hip Implants Litigation (BER-L-3971-11, New Jersey Superior Court, Bergen County).
“Case management conferences involve discussing matters pertaining to the pretrial proceedings for all the ASR hip lawsuits in the state,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group LLP. “These are necessary for lawsuits to proceed toward trial.”
The DePuy ASR hip implant, recalled in 2010, has led to lawsuits in state and federal courts and has been under U.S. Food and Drug Administration scrutiny because of one potentially dangerous side effect, among others: metal poisoning. According to the FDA*, cobalt and chromium ions could flake off into the implantee’s bloodstream when the device’s metal components rub together, causing severe health problems.
The Rottenstein Law Group LLP encourages those who believe they have suffered from the ASR’s alleged side effects to visit its FAQ page for quick answers to their questions about the device, its side effects, the recall and lawsuits. If there are additional questions, those looking for more information can use the contact form to get in touch with a metal-on-metal hip lawyer.
