MIBA Medical Uses 3D Copier from 3D Fabrication Technologies for Rapid Product Development
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) August 31, 2013 -- MIBA is developing minimally invasive body augmentation products including a dermal filler product called Restor®. Facial injectable procedures are expected to grow in acceptance among the general population. Physicians such as family practitioners, dentists, gynecologists, emergency physicians, neurosurgeons, and ear-nose-and-throat specialists, have found that the high return on investment for these procedures combined with the ease of administration and low capital costs make facial injectable products a profitable adjunct to their practices’ other business.
“We pride ourselves on our ability to develop long lasting, superior facial injectable products,” says CEO Phi Nguyen, MD. " 3D Fabrication Technologies’ 3D copier technology uses environmentally-friendly materials, and the quick turn-around enables us to make low volume copies of our syringe prototypes so that we can quickly send our designs to users for useability testing" notes Dr. Nguyen.
Dr. Nguyen continues that "Access to 3D Fabrication Technologies’ 3D copier reduces our product development iteration from months to days because we can simply use a 3D printer to make a master in a few minutes, and then we can make dozens or hundreds from the master in a day or two. Moreover, minor changes in the design can be done by directly manipulating the copied shape in the 3D copier and then reproducing the modified shape. In contrast, conventional molding techniques would cost MIBA about ten thousand dollars for the mold and one month per iteration. Thus, MIBA benefits greatly from the rapid copying technology from 3D Fabrication Technologies to achieve both cost and time savings during new product development."
After arriving at significant design milestones, MIBA Medical uses patent workflow solutions from PowerPatent Inc. to enable Sonar Medical to file quickly and benefit from the first-inventor-to-file provision of the American Invents Act (AIA) through the provisional and utility patent application process.
