GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 4, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- There are many iconic figures in American history whose stories have not been told. In Cory P. McLiechey's debut children's book, "Keeping the Truth Alive," he illustrates the actual timeline of his ancestor Sojourner Truth. This nursery rhyme will educate children about a historical woman and the trials and tribulations she endured.
"Keeping the Truth Alive" is filled with colorful illustrations that will captivate readers to learn more about a Heroine who stood tall against her oppressor and fought against inequality, racism and injustice. McLiechey captures a fraction of the many things that Sojourner Truth accomplished and endured that are still relatable today.
"I decided to write 'Keeping the Truth Alive' to educate today's youth on an influential historical figure that also happens to be my ancestor," said McLiechey. "Not only did I want to provide information about Sojourner Truth, but I also wanted to keep her legacy alive by getting this book out there and raising awareness on everything she overcame and did for her community. From being enslaved to joining the North-Hampton Association of Abolitionists, I wanted to walk readers through different times of her life that made up who she was."
Ultimately, "Keeping the Truth Alive" will introduce a historical figure who provided greatness to America regardless of the obstacles that she experienced. McLiechey's tale is illustrated through colorful pictures and will educate many readers on a familial legacy that he beautifully keeps alive.
