Whatever we can do to transition [Veterans’ lives] back home to one befitting returning heroes is what we strive for each and every day.

The Michigan personal injury law firm of Goodman Acker P.C. is honored to announce that it recently received the American Patriot award from the Michigan Veterans Foundation (MVF).

Tyrone Chatman, Executive Director of the MVF, presented the award to the senior partners of Goodman Acker – Barry Goodman and Gerald Acker – and thanked the law firm’s lawyers and staff for their help and efforts in trying to eliminate homelessness among Detroit Veterans.

“We are deeply humbled and honored by the American Patriot award presented by the Michigan Veterans Foundation,” Goodman said.

“Jerry and I believe the only true patriots are those who currently serve or have served our country, protecting us around the clock while we go about our daily lives. Whatever we can do to transition their life back home to one befitting returning heroes is what we strive for each and every day.”

On Veterans Day, the personal injury law firm held a “Caring For Our Homeless Veterans Benefit” at Detroit Tough Gym in Corktown. The benefit was a collection drive/walk-run in which community members could donate gently used or new items and walk/run to deliver those items to Veterans in need.

The event proved to be a huge success, collecting more than eight truckloads of clothing, coats, blankets, shoes, business suits, disposable goods and more for Detroit’s homeless Veterans. Additionally, the attorneys raised more than $2,000 in funds that went to the MVF.

The American Patriot Award is given to exceptional Americans who have demonstrated a profound and abiding love of country and whose inspirational leadership and selfless dedication symbolize the nation’s ideals, values and democratic principles.
