DiabetesSisters to Showcase Signature Programs at 2019 American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) Annual Meeting
DiabetesSisters will showcase its signature programs at the upcoming American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) Annual Meeting n Houston, TX.
RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- DiabetesSisters, the national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the health and quality of life of women with all types of diabetes or prediabetes and to advocate on their behalf, will showcase its signature programs at the upcoming American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) Annual Meeting August 9-11, 2019 in Houston, TX.
All attendees are invited to visit booth #1951 in the Exhibit Hall on these days to learn more about ways educators can refer women with diabetes to participate in digital and in-person programs to better live with diabetes. DiabetesSisters signature programs include the Part Of DiabetesSisters (PODS) Meetup program currently in 25 states, as well as Minority Initiative education and motivation events in English and Spanish. Staff and volunteers will be available at the booth throughout the meeting to share and discuss valuable information to take back to patients and other diabetes educators in home communities.
For those interested in leadership and partnership opportunities with the organization, Donna Rice, MBA, RN, CDE, FAADE, Board of Directors Chair, and Michele Polz, Board of Directors Vice Chair, will be available to answer questions, provide information, and share their experiences on Saturday, August 10 from 11:30am to 1:00pm and from 2:00pm to 3:15pm, and on Sunday, August 11 from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
Anna Norton, MS, DiabetesSisters CEO, will co-lead session S21A - Making Space for Lurkers in Peer Support: A Community-Supported Approach to Engagement on Saturday, August 10 at 3:15pm. This session will share insights to educators and clinicians on the ways people with diabetes can benefit from peer support networks, providing them examples of case studies with success outcomes in diabetes self-management. A second session, M-02 - Fasting in Diabetes Management: Clinical Interventions for Cultural, Spiritual and Therapeutic Fasting, scheduled on Monday, August 12 at 8:15am, will feature the organization's results from a recent survey on diabetes and fasting, and offer information and solutions for guiding people with diabetes who choose fasting for health and religious reasons.
