Mervis Diamond Importers is teaming up with a local pet supply store and a local shelter to raise awareness about dog and puppy adoption. For the second consecutive year, Mervis will host "Diamonds in the RUFF!" at its Tysons Corner, Virginia store. The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 31st, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 1st, from 12 noon to 5 p.m.
A U.S. soldier serving in Afghanistan who wanted to design the perfect custom diamond engagement ring for his girlfriend, an avid dog lover, inspired the “Diamonds in the RUFF” trunk show. The final ring design was decided upon after a conversation between Mervis and the soldier—he told them that the letters he wrote to his girlfriend always included a little hand-drawn paw print at the bottom of the page. The result was a diamond engagement ring with an exquisite combination of heart and round-cut diamonds, perfectly resembling a paw print. Many customers have since requested the unique design for their dog-loving significant others.
Select diamond engagement rings and wedding rings will be offered at special prices during the event. In addition, attendees can meet dogs and puppies that are available for adoption from the local shelter. Five dogs were adopted at the 2013 "Diamonds in the RUFF!" event.
