Matrox M-Series Graphics Cards Drive Digital Signage in Shaw Retatil Stores

Matrox M9148 quad-monitor graphics cards power three 1x4 “innovation pods”, while M9188 octal-monitor cards drive a band of monitors overhead that display social media information.

Montreal (PRWEB) December 12, 2013

Matrox Graphics today announced that Canadian telecommunications company Shaw recently deployed interactive digital signage driven by Matrox M-Series™ multi-display graphics cards in six of its Western Canadian stores. Integrator Trapeze, a full-service marketing agency contracted by Shaw alongside store-designer Breakhouse, selected M9188 and M9148 cards to power 30 total setups across the chain of retail outlets.

In each store, a 20-monitor band powered by M9188 octal-monitor graphics cards surrounds customers with social media information displayed overhead. Customers can use a touch screen to browse through Shaw’s different products and services on one of five quad-display information pods powered by M9148 quad-monitor cards. In addition, Matrox PowerDesk software, which comes with M-Series cards and other Matrox multi-monitor solutions, is used to manage each output.

“The M9148 card, through PowerDesk, let us define a single virtual display in any configuration we could imagine and provided fanless, high-reliability service,” said Trapeze digital signage expert Ian Langdon. “Matrox provided us with a worry-free way of interfacing the displays with the operating systems.”
