New Sequel Returns Young Readers to WWII Poland
CHANNEL ISLANDS, England (PRWEB) March 02, 2014 -- Author Dina Andrews returns to familiar characters with the publication of “Tears in the Rain” (published by Trafford Publishing), the sequel to her first novel, “Tears in the Sand.”
In this historical novel set during World War II, a young boy named Alex is rescued from the island of Jersey by his Polish friend, Heniek. The two boys return across the English Channel and infiltrate Nazi-held Poland, trying to locate their families.
Andrews traveled to Poland to research her book, which she is hopeful will give it more authenticity.
An excerpt from “Tears in the Rain”:
“He was surprised that he heard Heniek speaking Polish to some of the other soldiers. Alex heard the engine start, but the lorry spluttered a little, and he heard Heniek swear as he managed to crunch the gears. Alex was listening as best he could: the Polish German soldiers were planning to mutiny. They were all very angry with being forced to fight for the Germans. Finally, Alex felt a little safer. Half an hour seemed like two hours when you are so cramped up you can’t move.”
One of Andrews’ goals in writing “Tears in the Rain” is to help introduce younger readers to the study of World War II, Nazis and the Holocaust.
“This is a subject which all children should start to study in school,” Andrews writes.
