In his new memoir, “Diplomatic Tales: Stories from a Foreign Service Career and One Family's Adventures Abroad” (published by Lulu), Lewis Richard Luchs offers a series of anecdotes about his life as an American diplomat and his family working and living in six countries abroad – exploring cultural differences and offering insights into the life of a U.S. official.

Taking place across Madagascar, Mali, Singapore, France, Malaysia and Australia, Luchs provides both the family and the professional sides of working abroad as a diplomat.

Luchs explains that he wrote the book out of his “desire to share the experience of an adventurous career and to respond to questions about diplomats and embassies that I am often asked.”

The book has been selected for Kirkus' Indie Books of the Month Selection for the month of February.

An excerpt of the Kirkus review for “Diplomatic Tales”:
The reader will gain insights into an intriguing profession. … It is an engrossing look at a wide-ranging career in the Foreign Service as well as a sweeping story of a globe-trotting life. … Throughout the absorbing book, Luchs shares captivating geographic and historical tidbits about every country he worked in.
