DJS Communications, an independently owned corporate communications group founded in 2004, recently won an IABC Renaissance Award of Merit for Media Relations, presented by the Detroit Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) at the organization’s 32nd annual Renaissance Awards event held June 27 at the Henry Ford Centennial Library in Dearborn, Mich.

The company earned the award, its seventh overall since its founding, in the Media Relations category for work on behalf of The Otter Company, in launching that company’s 2013 apparel collection at the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., in January.

The Otter Company, headquartered in Birmingham, Mich., designs, manufactures and markets comfortable, technical and ecologically sensitive outerwear for golfers. Otter apparel maximizes playtime, and extends sessions and seasons, with garments that allow play earlier in the spring, later in the fall and in any inclement weather.

The PGA Merchandise Show media initiative included a series of advance press releases, a press conference to introduce the 2013 collection, including an all-new women’s collection, and a series of social media updates via Facebook and Twitter throughout the run of the show.

The campaign yielded The Otter Company a number of significant product trials and a number of favorable reviews including Golf Fashion Weekly, BunkerShot.com, CyberGolf, Golf Tips magazine and Golf Minnesota.
