“Identity theft is a very real risk for people today, and can cause non-legitimate information to appear on a driving history report,” a spokesman said. “If people can demonstrate to us that they have been a legitimate victim of identity theft, then we are happy to remove the incorrect information from their driving history.”

When an identity thief steals someone's personal information, they often use it to get a driver's license in their name, he said. Then when they get pulled over, they use that license instead of their legitimate license, he said.

“If you look up your driving history with us and notice that you have 10 speeding tickets in Iowa and you live in Miami, you can be pretty sure you've been a victim of an identity thief,” the spokesman said. “Then you can contact both our company and the proper officials and have it removed from your record.” won't charge any fees to remove the non-legitimate data, he said.
