WALLINGFORD, Conn., Oct. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Amphenol Broadband Solutions (ABS) is excited to announce that its DOCSIS Passive has been awarded 3.5 Diamonds by Broadband Technology Report (BTR) in the Customer Premises Equipment category. According to BTR, scores of 3.5 or above are considered superlative and reflect a very positive opinion from the panel of expert volunteer judges.
100% passive, the device accommodates 8+ Set Top Boxes, MoCA controllers and modems without power supplies or amplification. This means no more premises amplifiers and some serious noise reduction. Each DOCSIS Passive provides dramatic cost savings while also cleaning up the network.
The device actually has a long heritage with similar passives in production as early as 2012. Today's DOCSIS Passive builds on the lessons learned from these earlier, similar devices. A hybrid device which utilized TRF where needed, and a quad set of expandable MoCA-only ports to maximize performance on the increasing number of Customer Premises Equipment that is MoCA-based.
"By focusing on what was being used in the home," says Josh Hirschey, ABS General Manager, "we could design a cost effective, maximum performing device in a compact, passive package."
Today, the DOCSIS Passive is systematically replacing amplifiers, in turn, eliminating power supplies, reducing power supply noise, eliminating ingress, improving system health and more. "The DOCSIS Passive is a unique invention that was created for better performance and ended up becoming something much more," Josh stated.
The DOCSIS Passive may be seen at SCTE CableTech EXPO in Atlanta, booth #2342. More information about this new product may be found by clicking here.
