Doctor and Wellness Expert Shares Personal Struggle with Addiction, Depression
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) June 10, 2019 -- As the topic of mental health and wellness becomes more and more prevalent in our society, it is apparent that it is a struggle that can affect anyone, even mental health experts.
In “Finding Courage to Let You Out: Living Our Human NESS with Our Human MESS,” Dr. Natacha D. Nelson, D.C., M.A., details her personal story of addiction, depression, failures and comebacks, to lay the foundation for those struggling to know how to understand and interpret how their mind is working and why they feel “stuck.”
“As a doctor and mental health professional, it can be easy to neglect yourself,” Dr. Nelson said. “You can get so consumed with focusing on others, that we don’t take the time to care for ourselves. In sharing my own personal story, I hope to normalize the topic of mental health so that others feel more comfortable reaching out for the help they need.”
Dr. Nelson has worked in private practice for over 20 years, helping thousands of patients understand and care for their bodies and health. She is the owner of Inside Out Wellness Center, works with clients as a chiropractic doctor and life coach, and has her master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology. Experiencing the personal struggles with addiction, the pain of divorce, single motherhood, as well as the stigmas of being biracial and raised by her white mother, allow Dr. Nelson to relate and empathize with her patients and readers from a unique perspective.
“Understanding how the mind and body work are keys for comprehending why we make the choices we make and react to life’s challenges the way we do,” Dr. Nelson said. “It also allows us to consciously find new ways to train our brain to react in more positive ways that afford us our desired results. Once we take control, we are no longer victims of our circumstances.”
