Health care costs are going up and up and health care service seems to be going down and down

Camillus medical doctor Joseph Barry has been bringing smiles to local residents for over 25 years.

In addition to being a board certified internist and geriatric specialist, Barry has often created outreach programs to give back to his community.

In one year, he collected and delivered 150 teddy bears to the University Hospital for young patients during Christmas time. More recently he held a children's "good deed' essay contest and rewarded youths for their good deeds.

As the July 4th holiday approaches, Barry would like to create a special health consultation program.

"July 4th has always been a meaningful day for me as it brings to mind the wonderful things I love about this country and the people in it: kindness, compassion and never stopping to stand up for freedom," Barry said.

However, one issue that has bothered Barry was a recent New York Times article on the increasing trend of Americans choosing to forfeit their needed health treatment due to not being able to afford their insurance co-payments.

According to Barry, "Health care costs are going up and up and health care service seems to be going down and down. When the beginning stages of health issues are not taken care of right away, Americans put themselves at risk of serious and expensive diseases!"

Barry has decided to create a special health consultation plan at a discounted price. Patients can spend only $20 and get a full 30-days worth of medical consultation and guidance on any health issue they have.

"This consultation is not the same as visiting a traditional medical doctor where they are usually too busy to listen to you or monitor your condition. I will actually get deeper into an effective recovery and improvement plan," said Barry.

Barry, who is the founder of a Signature MD concierge practice where he provides round-the-clock care to patients as part of a specialized membership program, added, "Even if you have a health insurance, you know very well that your insurance don't cover all aspects of your complete health and unfortunately, focuses only on the illness part of the health equation."

To get the special 30-day health consultation for only $20, a regular patient does not have to sever connections with their current doctor. Their regular insurance rates will still apply.
