DoctorBase, a B2B patient engagement platform used by small and mid-sized healthcare organizations, today announced that it has hired Josh Angeles, former Sales Manager of the online appointment company ZocDoc, to head their sales development efforts. This is the first time the company has created a sales management position.
“I’m passionate about healthcare technologies and being part of a startup like DoctorBase that already has so much traction and growth was exciting to me,” said Josh Angeles. “The San Francisco health-tech scene is exploding, and it’s an amazing time to be involved in it."
As continued economic factors drive the healthcare industry to decrease costs and emphasize transparency as their primary marketing message to consumers, the San Francisco-based startup has raised only $1 million in seed funding in 2013, but is fast approaching profitability with high annual double digit growth since its inception in 2010.
Created by the founder of Five9, DoctorBase was started by John Sung Kim who stated, “We’re extremely pleased that Josh joined the team to instill processes and best practices to an organization that has grown mostly in an organic fashion to date.” He added, “Josh and I both shared the same philosophy about the need for health-tech startups to focus more on real customer success than cliches of ‘hockey stick growth,’ so the idea of working together just felt natural.”
Offering a suite of cloud-based, mobile-friendly marketing and communications SaaS to healthcare organizations, DoctorBase is becoming a leader in the emerging field of Patient Engagement Software, a rapidly growing new vertical within the B2B digital health startup ecosystem.
