When these animals escape due to unsecure fencing or other property issues, they can cause serious harm to others.
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) September 24, 2013
Philadelphia dog bite lawyer Randall Flager of Flager & Associates said today that dog bite victims in Philadelphia might have legal rights if they’ve been attacked by a dog.
Flager was reacting to a story reported by Action News 6 (“Dogs maul man in Southwest Philadelphia, 1 dog killed,” August 13). According to the story, two dogs guarding a used car lot attacked a man returning home from work, causing serious injuries to the man’s face and upper arms.
“The injuries sustained from a dog attack can be severe and, in some cases, life-threatening. When a dog escapes from somebody else’s property and attacks an innocent bystander, that property owner might be liable for the attack,” said Flager, whose law firm represents victims of negligence and families who lost loved ones due to negligence.
Action News 6 reported that the man was attacked by two boxers at approximately 2 a.m. on the morning of Aug. 12. The dogs, which were guarding a used car lot, managed to get under the fence guarding the property and attacked the man, the article stated.
When police arrived, according to the article, they were forced to shoot both dogs after their attempts at using a stun gun failed. One of the dogs was killed, according to Action News 6.
“Our Philadelphia personal injury attorneys know that not all dogs are dangerous. Unfortunately, though, animals that are used to guard personal property are often not properly cared for and act aggressively toward others. When these animals escape due to unsecure fencing or other property issues, they can cause serious harm to others,” said Flager, a negligence attorney in Philadelphia. “When this is the case, dog bite victims might be entitled to compensation for injuries. A personal injury attorney can hold the owners accountable and help send a message that such negligence will not be tolerated in Pennsylvania.”
