Author Darrall S. Moore was raised by several people in his family because his mother was not ready to be a full time parent yet. As he grew up, he learned to look after himself and not only settle for ‘okay’ but aim high and hit the highest mark possible. That mantra in life is what he shares in his memoir that warns readers, “Don't Get Comfortable” (published by Xlibris).

During the course of Moore’s early years, he would go back and forth to live with his aunt and grandmother. As an adult, he has gone through a lot of trials and tribulations that probably should have made him a different person from who he is today, but a personal promise made to himself has propelled him to always work hard at whatever he does because he knows it will pay off. His thirst to shun the average and aim for the best has propelled him to achieve things and mold the best out of himself.

His inspiring memoir, “Don’t Get Comfortable” not only narrates his story of triumph over life’s odds, of rising above the humps and bumps in the road of life, but also serves as reminders to readers to crave for the best and not the ‘okay.’ As he observes today, Moore noticed that people today are very laid back and are prone to laziness, so he took it upon himself to encourage anyone to step up and ‘take on the world.’

When he was about four or five years old, his mother was not ready to be a full-time mother yet, so he went to live with his aunt and two older cousins for a while. Living with them was very fun. Moore has seen and learned a lot at a very young age. After his stay there, he went to live with his grandmother, who lived at church, and sang in the choir as he subsequently did. Once his mother got herself together, he went back to live with her and a guy who soon became his stepfather.
