First Saturday has always been a celebration of the unique shops, restaurants and small businesses that are the heartbeat of Downtown Frederick — but this July, after more than three months of state-mandated shutdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Partnership is taking First Saturday to a place it’s never been before — expanding this regularly 1-day event to 4 days of fun.

As the spread of COVID-19 is still a very real threat for our communities, there will be many different ways that people can participate in First Saturday activities — both from home and in-person.

Approximately 80% of Downtown Frederick’s shops and restaurants are now open for in-person shopping and dining, and many continue to offer curbside pickup, online shopping and other zero-touch options for supporting their business. Visit the Partnership’s website at downtownfrederick.org/covid-19 to learn more.

Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday Downtown Frederick is transformed with a partial closure of Market Street, allowing for pedestrians and outdoor dining to fill the streets. Throughout the week, you also can find expanded outdoor dining options in parklets (enclosed parking spots filled with dining tables) and pop up outdoor cafes throughout the city.
