The Conference Forum announced Carolyn R Bertozzi, PhD, Stanford University, 2022 Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, as Keynote Speaker of the 9th annual Immuno-Oncology 360º (IO360º) conference, taking place February 7-10, 2023 in New York City.
Dr Bertozzi is recognized for founding the field of “bioorthogonal chemistry,” a set of chemical reactions that allow researchers to study molecules and their interactions in living things without interfering with natural biological processes. She is the Baker Family Director of Stanford ChEM-H, Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences and Professor, by courtesy, of Chemical and Systems Biology and of Radiology, at Stanford.
“Dr Bertozzi has been a pioneer in understanding difficult-to-understand biology and chemistry while pioneering innovative technology to support the burgeoning field of glycobiology. Dr Bertozzi has helped lead the way to understanding the role of glycobiology in cancer and in immunity,” said Daniel S Chen, MD, PhD, Engenuity Life Sciences and Strategic Advisor of IO360º. “Her leadership and thoughtfulness has served as an inspiration to all of us working in the field of cancer immunology.”
In her keynote, Dr Bertozzi will share how her work in bioorthogonal and click chemistry is being applied to help advance cancer immunotherapy research.
“We’re excited for Dr Bertozzi to share with the IO360º audience how her novel approach to chemistry advances research into cancer immunotherapies,” said Kate Woda, IO360º Conference Director.
Dr Bertozzi was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, for building on bioorthogonal chemistry through click chemistry – a form of simple chemistry where molecular building blocks snap together quickly and efficiently – for use in living organisms.
About Immuno-Oncology 360º:
IO360˚ is an annual conference in NYC that convenes key stakeholders spanning the science and business communities to report on the latest data impacting immuno-oncology to fight a wider range of cancers.
About the Conference Forum:
The Conference Forum is a life science industry research firm that develops conferences primarily around how to get therapeutics to patients faster. They examine and challenge the complex ecosystem of drug development and delivery, bringing ideas together from a variety of sources to help advance clinical research with common goals that are patient-focused.
They currently offer conferences for pharma/biotech professionals including R&D leaders, CEOs, business development/licensing, medical affairs/safety, chief patient officers/advocates, clinical innovation champions, investors and drug delivery specialists. The company also publishes six newsletters and produces PharmaTalkRadio and virtual events.
