Dr. Judy Stone Discusses a New Paradigm for Buprenorphine Testing in Educational Webinar
YORBA LINDA, Calif. (PRWEB) August 14, 2018 -- Buprenorphine (BUP) is a partial mu-agonist synthetic opioid, an important drug for treating opioid use disorder. BUP is often prescribed as a sublingual co-formulation with the opioid antagonist naloxone (NXO) to deter illicit parenteral use and diversion.
In this webinar, participants will learn from a review of the pharmacokinetics of BUP, NBP, and NXO and then discuss strategies for optimizing automated sample preparation with the Tecan AC Extraction PlateTM for LC-MS/MS analysis of these analytes. They will also review the results of the method validation, the distributions of free, total, and percent free BUP, NBP and NXO concentrations in this cohort and discuss interpretation for individual samples of interest.
Dr. Judy Stone, a senior technical specialist at UC San Diego Health Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine, will be the speaker for this event.
In this presentation, Stone will diagram the metabolism of sublingual buprenorphine/naloxone and list the relative and range of concentrations of free and total buprenorphine, metabolites and naloxone to be expected in urine samples. She will also describe the chemistry and process for AC plate extraction.
Stone obtained her doctorate in clinical biochemistry at the University of Toronto and currently serves as the senior technical specialist in the Clinical Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, San Diego Health System. Her research interests are in mass spectrometry method development, validation and automation for clinical toxicology and endocrinology.
LabRoots will host the webinar September 5, 2018, beginning at 8 a.m. PDT, and will be available on-demand following the live event. To learn more about this event, the continuing education credits offered, or to register for free, click here.
