Dr. Feiz & Associates’ Weight Loss Patients' Triumph at Pasadena Triathlon Highlights the Remarkable Power of Bariatric Surgery
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 19, 2016 -- Dr. Feiz & Associates, a Los Angeles based bariatric surgery clinic, is pointing out the fact that two of its patients who underwent the gastric sleeve procedure successfully took part in the Pasadena Triathlon on March 12th, 2016. The annual event benefits NextStep, a charity devoted to helping people living with paralysis and mobility issues. Both of these participants are recent patients of bariatric surgeon Michael Feiz, M.D., F.A.C.S., Ms. Sonji Bobo and Mr. Eric Cano. The bariatric surgery clinic notes that, having effectively won the battle against severe obesity with the help of the gastric sleeve procedure and diet adjustments, Ms. Bobo and Mr. Cano have each achieved remarkable and inspiring success.
Ms. Sonji Bobo explains that the triathlon experience was incredibly rewarding and fun. She says that, while this was her first time competing in such an event, “I think I would definitely do it again.” Ms. Bobo notes that, prior to having the gastric sleeve procedure, her weight loss issues seemed nearly insurmountable. She suffered from high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and noted that her cardiologist instructed her to lose excess body weight in order to improve her health. Another obstacle she dealt with was breaking the all-too familiar pattern known as “yo-yo” dieting, in which weight gains equal or exceed previous losses. Since having the gastric sleeve procedure in 2013 and working with Dr. Feiz & Associates, Ms. Bobo says she has lost well over 65 pounds, and currently weighs in at a healthy 150. When asked how she feels about her weight loss journey and its health impacts, she credits Dr. Feiz and his team. “They’re there every step of the way.”
The other participant in the triathlon, Eric Cano, explains that, while it was also his first time competing, he is ready to take on bigger challenges. “I’ve already signed up for two more, as well as a 5K run next week, and an 8-mile run in June,” he says. Mr. Cano notes that his motivation to have the gastric sleeve procedure was related to his career as a delivery driver. He explains that, due to his obesity, he had incurred numerous injuries; both of his ankles had to be surgically repaired, he’d undergone knee surgery three times, as well as back surgery. Now, after having lost over 100 pounds with the help of the gastric sleeve procedure and adjusting his eating patterns, he says he feels “like a feather flying around.”
Dr. Feiz & Associates explains that, for many people struggling with severe obesity, bariatric procedures such as the gastric sleeve and the Lap Band are scientifically proven to help patients lose weight. Experiences such as Ms. Bobo’s and Mr. Cano’s are far from unusual, they note, and in many cases, bariatric surgery can certainly help people achieve what may have previously seemed impossible.
